Challenge
As a bulk carrier was being taken over ahead of a charter, there was a risk of a dispute between the parties over bunker quantities. The fuel on board at the moment of delivery had to be determined impartially and precisely.
Solution
Through a draft survey and bunker survey we carried out tank sounding, tank condition inspection and recording of the machinery running hours. All findings were made traceable with photographic reporting.
Result
The bunker quantities at delivery were established with certainty. A potential fuel dispute of roughly 85 tonnes was resolved before the operation began, without giving rise to any objection between the parties.
