A zero-damage voyage for an offshore towage operation

Before towing a nearly 300-metre semi-submersible offshore unit from the Far East to Türkiye, we independently verified its structural integrity and towage readiness.

Challenge

A nearly 300-metre semi-submersible offshore unit was scheduled to be towed from the Far East to Türkiye. Before the voyage, its structural integrity, sea-fastening equipment and towing arrangement had to be independently verified.

Solution

As part of an independent Marine Warranty Survey, we carried out the structural inspection, sea-fastening and towing-arrangement checks, chain–shackle–padeye inspections and a review of the stability documentation. A risk analysis and weather-window assessment tied the operation to safe conditions.

Result

The 12 critical nonconformities identified were resolved before the operation. Tow Approval was granted successfully, and the roughly 300-metre unit completed its voyage with zero damage.
